In Montana, the claim is we have NO sales tax, but still have lodging Taxes in the amount of 7% and many smaller towns close to the major attractions have enacted "resort" taxes in the amount of 3%. In my opinion, if it swims, flys and quacks like a duck, you have a duck. But apparently taxes on sales are not really sales taxes. Those tax collections go to the state, and as far as most of us are concerned, that money is never seen again. But that is getting a little close to the political red line we dare not cross, so I will leave it at that. Don't expect the fact you pay a tax to mean you are going to get any better services from the merchant, it doesn't work that way.Dog Folks wrote:The Texan wrote:
In Florida, all campgrounds fall under the same laws and regulations as motels. The Innkeepers have all the power and the guest has NONE.
Not quite. Section 509 refers to "Membership Campgrounds."
Regular campground laws are not uniform state wide, although they are similar.
One of the main reasons is that all 67 counties in Florida have a strong county government when compared to other states or commonwealths. There is bound to be some variation.
Call it anything you want. All I know is it was not until I crossed the Florida State line that I had to start paying an additional 7% to 9% bed tax on top of the state tax for my CG fee. Which most certainly did not equate to nicer CG's either. Far from it.
The CG's were way nicer North of the Florida state line. :W
