There is a court case regarding police dash cams/plate readers. It has to deal with state laws regarding the length of time the police may keep videos that are not evidence of a crime. If I remember correctly, state law says they may not be kept for more than 30 days if they are just routine and are not being held for an active investigation. This has nothing to do with private individuals or corporations and is only applicable in some states. Your laws may vary.
