Hello All,I hope all are well. I moved to Arizona in the last 8 months. I want to plate my Fuzion toy hauler. I was quoted $850+ for 1 year. I fell off my chair. The person on the phone stated that they go off new MSRP for the trailer. I said 1. It is 4 years old. 2. I have owned it since new. I have no issues paying on the used price. It is the pay off original MSRP I have issue. If so, Arizona has a good racket going. RV prices fall like a rock.Curious what others have encountered. This is one thing I did not figure on with this move.Jay

When you moved to another state vehicle license fees should have been considered along with income and sales taxes, home prices, real estate taxes, medical care and costs etc. Doesn’t AARP provide a state by state chart to members?

Out of state 1 time fee.......IIRC it's $500Then GVW is over 10,001#Next year it will be cheaper

Registration Rate: 60% of mfg value first year. Then value reduced 16.25% each year. Rate for a given year is $2.89 per $100 of the year value.So your initial value is 60%, then 16.25% reduced for four years. Then the fourth year value is divided by 100 and multiplied by 2.89 for that years fee.That works out to rather high registration for AZ.

Not sure if you read my previous post. I believe you mentioned AZ wanted $850 to register your 4 year old toy hauler (based on these numbers I'm guess-estimating the original MSRP on your toy hauler was approx. $75k-$85k). If you had registered this same toy hauler in AZ 4 years ago when it was new, AZ would have likely charged you roughly $1700 in registrations fees. Registration fees in AZ depreciate approx. 16% a year.

Thanks for all the discussion around the topic. I just found it odd that on a 4 year trailer that I have owned since new, they wanted to charge as if I bought the unit new.

I will rack this as one of my move stories and move along.

Each vehicle/trailer ID number is limited to only 3 permits in a 12 month period. They are also not (technically) valid outside the State of AZ. You could also be cited if your Point A and Point B doesn't match your documentation. It's easy to get the Judge or JP to let you off or with a very low fine, but it's a hassle none the less.

Gotta love Texas....my 2018 truck brand new 1st yr registration fee = $98, just renewed for 2nd year = $78! My new 2020 trailer will be ~$100 this year and about $45 next year, this makes me a happy camper!

In WA when tabs were big $$$ I did this and saved plenty of $$$.

Lady at DOT told me she had plenty of drinks bought for her when she heard people talking about spending hundreds of dollars on RV tabs.

Many states have a vehicle registration fee and also levy a personal property tax on vehicles of every kind. Arizona rolls those two fees together into one annual fee.

Re Fed Income Taxes, they raised the Standard Deduction a couple of years ago, so very few taxpayers now ever have enough qualifying deductions to itemize instead of using the standard deduction.
