Assist handles

We are looking to put an assist handle on our MH such as this one: Assist Handle

However, all we are finding are ones that fold over the door. Does anyone know of one that folds the other direction?

Thanks for your input.

  • Before you install the unit have the wife also check the height of the unit in relation to the ground, my wife is shorter than me and I am glad that I asked her otherwise she would not have been happy with the height of the handle.

As for some kid turning the unit forward and not being able to open the door, the plastic is not as strong, it will brake and let you out.

There should be a "stud" framing the door and the screws provided with the unit will hold well.

  • I wasn't worried about getting out, I was concerned about getting it into the travel position from inside the MH. But since they fold both ways that answers my question. Thanks all.

    Here is how they work

Good FYI video for the poster with paranoia about not being able to exit his RV if someone put the grab handle in the travel position while they were inside!..;)

  • I just installed one and drilled pilot holes into the sidewall and screwed it in. Not sure it went into a stud. If we pull it out of the wall I will probably drill at least two holes all the way thru to the inside and use bolts and nuts and washers to make it solid.
