Auto Switching Propane - Newbie Question

Just moved from popup to travel trailer and only had one propane tank on the popup.

New trailer has dual tanks and auto switch over. Is there any visual indication that one tank is empty and it is pulling from the other tank?

Thanks for all the great information on this site.

One more thing, how do I edit my signature to include RV info?
  • I had a single with two tanks on my pop-up. Had to use a wrench to change bottles. PITN. Bottle ran out and by the time I knew it the furnace fan blowing cold air for hours had killed the battery. Then I had propane and no battery to run the furnace. I fully embrace the automatic regulator.

Only trouble I had was camped in 10F and checked for low propane late in the day to find out the propane supply was closed for the night. We still made it through and filled in the morning.
  • Add me to the list of those who close the valve on the tank not being used.

Mine has a red/green indicator too but I don't use it. I close the valve on one tank. I would much rather have to go out in the cold and open the valve on the 2nd tank manually than go out in the cold and discover both are empty and I hadn't checked the indicator lately (been there, done that).

Same here, but with luck ours has always gone out in the middle of a day when we are either preparing a meal or heating water. Just takes a few seconds to go out and turn the other tank on and open it's valve
