- RPreebExplorerI bought my first camping trailer 2 years ago at age 68, but I first trailer camped with my parents in Montana in 1964. I don't really consider myself as an "RVer" though. I'm more of a "comfort camper". :B
- dennis1ExplorerTent camp when teenager. Small TC at 30-50YO. Now self contained TC at 67, since age 55 with DRW 3500 Duramax. Camp Mt Hood Oregon weeks at a time. Use Senior pass for 1/2 off, so very low cost vacations.
- colliehaulerExplorer IIII do find it interesting the number of folks on this thread that started at an early age. I bought my first TT when I was 38.

One couple they showed were buying a RV instead of a house. They could do their jobs on the Internet from anywhere and wanted to see the country. That wasn't a option when I first joined the work force.colliehauler wrote:
I seen on a RV program where the average age of rv owners is 47, the said it's the youngest it has ever been.
First, I'd ask how much the difference actually is over other years? They say "the youngest it has ever been", but is that by one year, five years, 15 years, etc.? If prior years it was 48, then big whoop.
Second, my suspicion is that there are two types of RV buyers - those that want to camp and those that want to travel. I think the travelers are becoming more and more common, so RV ownership is up as a whole. Also, I think many of the younger campers are going straight to an RV rather than starting out with tent camping first. Younger folks are buying bigger ticket "toys" much more than prior generations did. So, it would make sense that the age is dropping on average. - colliehaulerExplorer III

Could be a combination of the two, they did not elaborate.
Just curious.......
Has AVG. age gone down cause more younger folks are going camping
OR
