awning rope lights

Last week while camping I saw a couple of campers that had led rope light on the camper right up next to the awning. Anyone know how to make those stay up there? One had lights that alternated colors. Looked really nice.
  • there are several different types of hooks out there to put up rope lights. many dealers may have them or can get them for you. DON"T buy their rope lights, they charge as much as $40 for rope lights. you can get the same thing from wally world during Christmas for $5.00.
  • Drill and tap your awning arms put in a small SS bracket and you can hang them on a wire between the arms. Then if you have to put up the awning in a hurry you can do it with out having to worry about taking the the lights down first. And you can still use the lights while the awning is rolled up.

I use these; but you have to remove them when rolling the awning up.

One of those 24-foot length rope lights from LOWES works just great on our awning for our OFF-RoAD POPUP.

I drilled small holes ever so often along the aluminum frame and run small tie wraps to hold up the rope lights. I just snip them out when we leave. I have a large bag of small tie wraps that are real cheap. I pick up all of the snipped out tie wraps and dispose in the dumpster.

Only takes a few minutes to put them up.

My rope lights are on the inside of the aluminum rail and not really visible from the outside. They just put a nice soft light down under the awning. The rope lights doesn't seem to draw bugs at all...

My LOWES rope light is operated from one of those thumper controlled 120VAC extension cords from ACE HARDWARE RC-012-1

  • I do the same as lakeside. The ones you saw were probably an led strip. I believe they can be attached to the awning tube and don't need to be removed. Someone who has those will be along shortly.
  • Thanks, appreciate the info. Gonna have to look at installing those.
  • The awning rope light on my Bighorn slides into the same track that the awning slides into and is plugged into power on the starboard side of the RV as you stand back and look toward the entrance door. Hope this helps.
