Like many I have met the non-campers. AKA week-end warriors.
At our favorite beach front place our site of choice is large as is the adjacent site, last fall a group of three young families were next to us, first was a family w/two kids a 5 0r 6 year old and tiny baby. They were sweet and fun and the wife showed us the newborn. Then cam another family, that husband started drinking and got lour but not too ban, then came a couple without kids. They put their tent up on the site line and facing our site, okay not bad, then out came all their toys and chairs and carpet and surfboards, all on our site.
I decided to ignore them unless they got raunchy or really loud. There was a fairly large group of us all dispersed around the approximately 125 space. We did have a birthday dinner and a breakfast and knowing a couple of the rangers, invited them for a beer and food. I mentioned to one of them about the intrusion and he told me not to put up with it, to notify a ranger. His feeling is we may not be bothered but someone else may be. If he can talk nicely to a group and have them move onto their own site he does and usually that the end of it. I told him that I understood and would hope if I did tell him in the future that he would not let on there was a complaint. He said that was their practice and one of the patrol would drop by and ask them to move and never let on it was our fault.
I hope those rangers are not the only ones and that many campgrounds like to keep things neat and tidy for everyone. So now I quietly mention problems and ask that they not mention there was a complaint but say I saw that while on patrol.
I guess I do have a responsibility.
