Last weekend, we were camping in one of our favorite spots. Campers behind us had 2 adjoining sites. We were there for 5 days, they for 3. They routinely cut through our site, the kids rode their bikes across our site, including across our mat. Loud and boisterous. Couldn't start a campfire very well, just piled a bunch of fairly large chunks of wood into the firepit, poured cans of starter fluid on it and proceeded to smoke us out with stinky smoke. Other campers tried talking to them, and were treated very rudely. They were seen chopping on a tree at their site, and the entire weekend, piles of garbage bags hung around. They left, and low and behold, firepit on one site full of garbage, tree branches from the trees all around, and worse of all, an active fire in one of the firepits. If anyone follows my posts, you would know that we were evacuated in one of Colorado worse fires... Waldo Canyon. I had several friends and coworkers lose their homes in that fire and in one less than a year later in the black forest fire, also near our home. Fire is something I have a healthy respect for, and also some fear of. It was the final straw. I reported everything to the Office. The owner came over and cleaned everything up, apologized profusely, comped our stay, and contacted the campers. They were required to pay fines for both the fire and trees. The owner told them to pony up $500. Or he would file a complaint with the Sheriff's department. I heard that they paid and were banned from the campground for life. One for the good guys. We honestly didn't report them earlier because we tend to just let things go, but this one was just one step too far. That being said, we seldom have this type of experience.
