Haha! I've got 250# worth of dog with me. Not sure I can go much bigger. We have a rottweiler and an English Mastiff. You want to walk across my site while I run in to use the bathroom? Good thing they're better behaved than the people!
I don't think politely educating them was going to work.
Didn't ruin our trip, I was just surprised.
Good thing they were. If anyone got bit, they sound like the kind of people who would have sued you. And being the court system and judges we have today, they most likely would have won.
