Just back from an over 2 plus week tent camping trip in CT. Received multiple NWS texts during that time with at least 3 nights when I thought we were headed for Wiz of Oz territory. After the 2nd night ran into a RV camping nabe from past years who said she'd spotted us that night from the other side of the loop, worried about us and thought to invite us into her 5th wheel in the middle of the storm. Thanked her and said I might just have taken her up on the offer at one point sooo be happy I dinna;). Yeah we survived just fine ("Guylines are yer friends!" said the woman who captured a non staked tent galloping thru the campground)but the constant threat of bad weather (stormed or threatened to 50% of the time) certainly put a crimp in our trip.
We just changed our itinerary around. Mornings were spent swimming since most of the bad weather seemed to happen afternoons and evenings. Then off to anywhere the chance of bad weather was less and could be reached by car. Lots of museum, aquarium, bowling alley and historical site visits and even some berry picking when we realised the northern part of the state had a clear weather forecast. Many nights sitting in the screen house (also guy-lined w/i an inch of its' existence)playing Uno and when the kiddos got tired of whining about the weather , they played a rousing game of Tag in the rainy dark.
Nobody really cared if the kids whooped and hollered past 10:00 PM since those who might, were running their generators past the proscribed time, LOL.
All in all a great and memorable make the best of it trip.
