You have your priorities exactly right. It's easy for folks to say that you should move, but really: why throw the baby out with the bath water?
Don't get me wrong-I totally understand how annoying it is when the rules change. We ourselves have experienced something like this, only perhaps more devastating: The house/land we bought twenty years ago has been downzoned from one house per five acres to one house per twenty acres. In one stroke of the zoning board's pen, future development rights and perhaps half of our property's value went down the tubes.
Things change, that's all. We love it here and don't want to move or take the time to go to Court/kick up a fuss.
As the Easy Aces used to say: Ya gotta take the bitter with the better! :)
