When we had our pop up camper 12 years ago, we originally parked it for a few months in the back yard behind a 6' privacy fence. After a few months, we moved into our garage. After having it there for about another year, we took it on a week long trip to Florida. Got back late at night and backed into the driveway. The next day, I went to clean it out and left it open for a day to let it air out. I decided to do some more things to it and it went a 2nd day like that. That day I received a notice stuck in my mailbox by codes enforcement. Saying that rvs and boats could not extend out past the front of the house. We had a side entry garage. I went and looked it didn't extend past it. I called the officer and talked to him. Told him it didn't stick out further than the house and he said disregard it. I asked if he drove by and saw and saw it or if someone complained. He said someone complained. He wouldn't say who, but we knew it was the next door neighbor who worked for the city as he complained about something else before. So that intrigues me to leave it up a little longer. Plugged it in, turned on the ac, put out the awning, a couple chairs and a set of tacky lights. A few days later I get notice from the developer of the neighborhood who lived in another state. His letter mentioned the rv in the back yard (which it hadn't been there in a year). And it gave me several days to move it. I called him and spoke to him about it. He hadn't been there himself but someone complained. He wouldn't say who, but when I mentioned the neighbors name, he said he knew who that was. I left it up that way until the final day on the notice. Then it went back into the garage.
Where we live at now, we are in the county and our neighborhood has no covenants per se. When we had the TT, we did store it on the side of the house, but do to the slope of the yard, it became a pain when it rained. So we put it in storage. With the motorhome, we do keep it at the house on the sloped driveway, but if we had to put it in storage, we wouldn't have an issue with it. I say put it in storage.
