I don't know cost of storage in your area. But here in densely populated OC CA. I pay about $150/month with one month free if I prepay for the year. It is a nice place w/ locked gates, video security, a wash area, and a dump station.
But in perspective, the rent is cheaper than my cable TV bill. It is about the same price as my cell phone bill.
In your shoes I'd at least try storing it for a while-not make any too quick changes.
