BAL Spare Tire Carrier

I installed one on my Jayco in 2014. No problem with clearance as the frame bottom is 30" off the ground. Easy install and due to the grey tank location I used the one for an enclosed bottom.
In place of the spare tire out back I have a small aluminum storage box.

The Bal tire carrier works great for us. No problems for me lifting it into place with a tire on it. There are different models for different frames and with or without underbelly. The only challenge when installing it was getting my fingers up behind the coroplast to get the nuts/bolts in place.

It is SO nice to have the tire off the bumper. Looks a lot cleaner.

I installed one on my 5th wheel the problem is once you put the 100 lb tire on it then push it in you need superman strength to lift it up in order to secure it......I cut down an old bumper jack to lift if back up....I just was not strong enough to lift that sucker back up.....

I am not sure I can fit one under my trailer. In the rear behind the axle I have a sewer outlet on one side. I have a little space in front of the steps but it may be tight. If anyone can post pictures of how their BAL mounted that would be great.

What a difference going from 30 foot trailer down to a 19 foot. Not as much room under there!

I've got BAL spare tire carrier installed forward of my trailer axles, which provides no clearance issues, puts the CG forward, and freed up my bumper for a future hitch / bike rack installation. Works great!

I installed one of these on our 5er with enclosed underbelly about a year ago. I attached it to the frame just behind the axles and have no clearance problems. I love it. As for attaching the spare to it, there are 2 1/2" bolts attached to a plate at about the center of the carrier, simply put the spare on aligning the lug holes with the bolts and put the 1/2" nuts on. Works great, as I said I love it, easy to access and out of the way. I give it 5 stars out of 5. :)

I think it is Lippert that markets a winch up type that fastens to the frame rails. i mounted it to the Laredo with enclosed underbelly with no problems.

Our trailer came with one - no sealed underbelly and the carrier is worked right into the frame that hangs down. The carrier and tire are pretty close behind the rear axle so has never been a problem for clearance. We have had to change tires a few times along the highway and it is easily doable.

Our carrier has a big wing-nut type thing that holds the tire in place - and you remove it from the top once you pull the carrier and wheel out from under.

We love it.
