Bathroom and Kitchen grey water tank sensors

My black water tank has a way to clean the tanks but the kitchen and bathroom tanks do not. How are the sensors in these tanks cleaned, do not say ice cubes because there is no way to get ice cubes into these tanks. Is there a chemical that actually does clean them. I wonder how dish soap with grease cleaner would do in these tanks. Soap is what is coating them I think....

  • Many old-timers suggest the "Geo" system of cleaning the tanks. This involves putting anywhere from 1/2 to 1 cup of dishwashing liquid, 1/2 cup of borax crystals, and 1/4 to 1/2 cup bleach in each tank along with about 1/4 tank of fresh water before driving or hauling the rig. Bumpy or curvy stretches of road are even better! As full-timers, we do this every month or two before we move to keep the tanks and sensors clean. In reality, though, you may keep the tanks clean, but the the stock sensors are notoriously unreliable, anyway.

  • I guess we don't have that problem. We use Dawn in the kitchen and nothing special in the bathroom shower/sink. I suppose one could dump a little of the same stuff you use in the toilet. Also, try to let the tanks get really full before dumping.
One poster like to drive to the next site with full tanks then dump upon arrival. Lets the water swish around to help clean the sensors.
BTW the ice cubes don't work. There is a video on that subject.

  • I'm wondering the same thing. My grey tank is empty, but the sensor says it's still at 1/3. If I fill it, the sensor will move to 2/3 and full, so the sensor isn't dead, it just won't read empty. So I'm with you in wondering how do I clean it.
