I was thinking maybe it would be advantageous to charge it during the heat of the day.
I think Time2Roll could be right. It most likely shorted out and fried. It was totally dry and had a black crusty substance in each cell. I have not seen this before. Mine usually just stop holding a charge.
I'm going to see how long I can keep this one alive before needing to reset the clock with new batteries. I really don't want to move up to AGM's, replace my converter or install solar at this time. I'm happy where I am.
Here is the timer I built for it. It provides me a piece of mind. Now I can pretty much set it and forget it for some time without worrying about it.
