Option 3 is the way to do it. I use a 50' hose with mine and pump into the bed of my truck. The 15' is fine.

For 35 gallons, it takes 5-6 minutes. The pump is noisy but not hella loud. It seems louder when you're right next to it, but walk away a little and it isn't terrible.

When full that tote will be close to 300 lb. Dragging it across the sand seems iffy... even on a flat bottom skid. The extra resistance might damage the tote or its handle, especially if it were to hang up in one of the ruts you mentioned.

A pump would seem to be the ticket here.

"Kind of like option 3"? :h It's a no-brainer, 15' is nothing, I pump 50' with my macerator with ease. How long? ... geez, I dunno, a couple of minutes I suppose ... why does it matter, a couple of minutes is neither here nor there. That aside, if you're talking just grey and never black why use a macerator when any 12 vdc pump will handle the task just as easily. It's no different than using a pump to transfer fresh water from portable containers in the back of my truck to the trailer's fresh water holding tank - essentially the same task. ;)

I never mentioned I wanted to dump gray on the beach. If I wanted to do that then why would I even ask about dumping gray in the first place? Use your head guys.

Anyway, there are dump stations in the parking lots of these beach campgrounds but some sites are a considerable distance from the dump stations so I need a way to transport the gray across the sand. Some ideas I came up with are...


1) Use the 35 gallon tote we normally use for regular campgrounds. Only issue is that we wouldn't be able to get the truck close to the sewer line on the camper and wouldn't be able to pull the tote across the sand to the truck. We'd have to fill the tote and then tie a rope between the tote and truck in order to pull it out into the open where we'd undo the rope and then attach the tote to the ball as we normally would and tow it to the dump station. This works but I'm afraid of damage to the tote once we hit some deep ruts left in the sand by previous vehicles. It can get pretty bouncy.

2) Pretty much the same as option 1 but make some kind of flat bottom sled to put under the tote while towing it across the sand so that it doesn't dig into the sand while towing. In essence, the tote would kind of be floating on top of the sand.

IMHO if you dump the grey on a beach you're increasing the potential for the general public to develop a negative opinion of RVers. Next step might be a local ordinance to ban RVs from the beach. Please don't do it.....
