Beginner sewer question.

They have separate valves for each tank but usually all empty thru the same elbow at the edge of RV. You should start w/ black tank emptying 1st and work thru the grey tanks in order of worst to cleanest (kitchen sink to shower).

You can keep your grey valves open until you get a few days away from dumping your black. Then you want to close all grey valves so you have plenty of grey water to rinse out the line after the black has dumped.

Keep the grey tank water to rinse your hose from the black tank

I never even hook up my sewer hose until I need to actually dump.. I come in on Friday and I only hook up my hose and dump on Monday morning when I leave..

I don't use all that much water in the trailer anyway, so it's not that big of a deal.

For those that take 10 showers a day, well, you gonna need to dump the grey tank more often.. ;)

Different strokes for different folks.. Do whatever works best for ya!

I keep both closed until full then dump black then grey to rinse. I never use any chemicals as its not a septic system its just holding tanks. Chemicals are a great moneymaker for camping stores.

another thing. I am reading through my owners manual but the **** thing is so vague. Its like it was written for every keystone in general and not my model specifically. I cannot locate where it tells me exactly how big my tanks are, fresh, gray or black. Would anyone know where I'd find this or would even maybe know the tank specs for a 2011 Keystone copper canyon 5'er 273fwret. I have and led gauge in the kitchen area that tells me E, 1/2 or F. But I'd like to know how many gallons each tank is.

An RV park is a great place for a new RVer to gauge how long you could dry camp...water, holding tanks and battery.

So I'm suppose to get out there and just wing it? lol. I'd like to at least have an idea of what I'm dealing with prior to a trip. I would do a driveway camp but We're about to get hit with another snow storm and I cant de-winterize yet. All the manuals and info that came with my camper is so general its of almost no help. So I'm trying to get an idea and prepare so I can better gauge and adapt as needed when I'm out there. Thank you for your input though.

The LED's are not very accurate, so you can't go by them. After a few times out, you'll know how long you can go before dumping.

Lwiddis was just saying that by being at a Full Hookup Site, it's the best way to be able to tell how long you can go before dumping. Because once you get full, you're able to dump without hooking up and driving to a dump station.

Knowing the capacities help, but first hand practical experience of how YOU use it is best.
