Question about sewer hose supports

Hose supports are largely unnecessary unless you stay in one place and the management makes you use one. 10 feet will eventually prove unsatisfactory. Get more.

How long do you stay in any one campground...on average. It is just one more thing to haul about and set up. Since we vacation in our RV and seldom stay more than 5 or 7 days in one spot it means we only dump once or twice at a campsite. Sort of makes hose management useless. JMHO

I have a set of the sewer hose supports that I rarely use. I would, however, use them for a longer termed stay, and if as mentioned above, the campground required it. A longer hose, in my humble opinion, is almost a necessity. I've been to many campgrounds where the sewer hook-up is outside of the range of a 10' hose.

I do not presume to speak for everyone, but I carry a 10 footer and a 15 footer. The latter has come in handy several times, but I've never needed to put the two together, although I could. I bought a run of the supports last year to put under the stinky slinky when I was going to be in a single place for 5+ weeks. The "lift to dump" routine works just fine unless the contents are left to sit for more than a day or so before being lifted & dumped. For the duration of that 5+ weeks, it sure was nice not to have to lift a finger to dump my tanks the entire time.

I would say that having a 15 footer is probably a good idea. Having both a 10 footer and a 15, not so much. Having a run of supports is not necessary, but can be handy, too.

There are some campgrounds where they caution you to only lay out the slinky to dump, and always pick it back up and stow it, Grand Canyon south, for instance, where the ravens have learned to peck holes in 'em to recover tasty morsels.

Getting a set of Lynx levelers is a good idea. Be sure to get a couple of the chocks that go with 'em.

I think they're a waste, but certain camp grounds like the fair grounds in Prescott, AZ require them and it's a $100 fine if the health agency catches you when they do their quarterly inspections. You should have two of them.

Most parks in Oregon and Washington require a sewer hose support. Have also found this to be the case at Parks in Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and South Dakota.

I carry a slinky and it comes in very handy..None of this grabbing a hose full of poop for me.:B

Thanks for the feedback. We usually only get to camp for 2 to 3 days at a time and maybe 4 if we are lucky. I don't know how much I would actually use one but I might throw one in the cart if I have money left over from buying all of my other toys. I'm also thinking about bubble levels . Might pick up a set of cheap ones.

The supports are nice of occasional use, and we have found that a length of plastic gutter is even better. I had a 10' section, and cut it at 6', and carry both sections nested together. As we find many sewer connections are above ground level, these along with the supports work very well. By sliding the sections together, we can use whatever length we need from 4' to 10'. A package of long tie-wraps is a good addition.

We camp all over Oregon and Washington A LOT and have for years. Never been required to have a sewer hose support...ever.???
