Hey guys. Just picked up my first camper. Gearing up for the maiden voyage. The site I booked has full hook ups water/electric/sewer. Question I have is when hooked up to the sewer for the duration of the trip, do you guys keep your black tank open the entire time so it runs right out immediately after use or do you keep it closed and empty it every couple days or so. Thank you!

Keep it closed until nearly full. If there is no liquid in the tank it will just stack up into a pooh pyramid. Plus, it will stop sewer gas from entering tt.

Keep it closed until almost full. If you leave the valve opened, the liquids will run out leaving the solids to solidify into a smelly pyramid. Google poop pyramid.

Also. Does the gray tank empty through the black tank? Like I am thinking of keeping the gray tank closed till the end then dumping the black tank first then the gray tank to help flush out the black tank again. Please let me know if my train of thought is correct.

The grat tank does not empty thru the black tank, however your train of thought is still correct. Empty black first, when black is done empty gray, to flush hose. Perfect. thank you!

Keep the black tank closed until ready to dump. Gray tank is optional

The gray does not empty thru the black in any rv i ever saw. There are two or more tanks and each usually has its own valve for draining.
