Beware Bauer Keyless Entry

unfortunately my internet signal prevents me from watching video so don’t know what you are talking about… are you talking the master code for the lock??? Or is it the default code (1234 when new) that you should change to your own pin number when installed…

what Lippert says about the master code… LIP Sheet – 0228

Instructions:
1. Find 9-digit serial number on the front of the key pad located under the 9/0 button.
2. Contact Lippert Components: Phone: (574)537-8900; E-mail: warranty@lci1.com.
3. Provide Lippert Tech with the serial number.
4. Lippert will contact the manufacturer and request the Master Code.
5. When Lippert receives the Master Code, a tech will contact the original caller.
Follow the instructions below:
1. Press the 9-0 button for approximately 3 seconds. The keypad lights should flash twice then stay on.
2. Enter the Master Code (see example at the top of this LIP Sheet) for your specific keypad and when
entering the last digit of the master code, hold the button for approximately 3 seconds. Keypad lights
should turn off. The user code has been reset to “1 2 3 4”.
NOTE: The default code can then be changed to a PIN following the directions found in LIP Sheet 0195.
NOTE: Be sure to save the Master Code for this particular key pad in the event it needs to reset again.

I have one. Once your code is entered, the reset code shown in the video does not work. Just tried it. Only thing that resets the code is removing the batteries for 10 seconds.

I did not watch the video. But it appears the OP may have jumped the gun with his post. For the record. I have keyless entry and its great not having to deal with keys

I did not jump the gun. My friend has a Redwood with this keyless entry. When he was having problems with it, Bauer customer support told him to push the buttons that clear the code, then enter the default code. This caused the lock to operate. Bauer told him to just use the default code until he received a replacement in the mail.

interesting .... link appreciated .... my understanding was that you had to remove the batteries but your friend's experience wouldn't seem to make that so .... I find it hard to believe that they would go to such lengths and advertise security and build such a large hole into their product .... hopefully someone here has one of their locks and can test it

I don't understand this. A RV is both a vehicle and a house. The cheapest vehicle I can find new has a "laser cut" key (in actuality, it is a variant of the Bell center-cut keys that have been used in coin lockers since the 1970s, but it sounds impressive by the BMW sales guy with the German-accent.)

Why are RV locks so craptastic? Yes, someone can break a window or pry a door loose, but the locks should be on par with cars, which means at least getting STRATTEC (the same lock makers that make the auto locks for the Big Three) to make the locks. It might at most add $50 to the price of an RV, but what it would allow would be one key that works on all door, compartment, and (if a MH) ignition locks, and a mechanism that is sturdy, weather-resistant, and proven to work in all kinds of environments.

If not them, there are many other high security lock makers that offer millions to billions of different keys. Sussex Installations in the UK use a key (Mul-T-Lock) which guarantees that nobody's key will fit someone else's lock unless explicitly keyed that way.

You can only do this from the inside so unless you have a faulty unit it should be secure. JMHO

That sure knocks one's sense of security into a cocked hat. I mean a locked RV is about as secure as a locked aluminum screen door, but one does like to think that a locked door would at least have to forced open.
