Anyone from there know what the current wait time is for a title transfer is?We just bought a used motor home in there and what the dealer didn't tell us is is the Vehicle Registration System in MN (which got a $93M upgrade a year ago) is severely broken. It takes MONTHS to get a title transferred. I read in an article from January some people are waiting up to 8 MONTHS to get the title to their vehicle. It said there were 23,600 titles that could not even be processed by the new system. Not sure what the numbers are today but someone just posted in another group that they are in their 4th month with no end in site. If you are from out of state you get a 31 day temp registration that is NOT renewable. So as of right now if you buy a used RV in Minnesota basically you have 31 days to find a place to park it. Registration processing is better now and the citizens of Minnesota will get it fixed. The Star Tribune recently said:“With an election certificate comes a shared responsibility to make government work. Gov. Mark Dayton was slow to live up to that responsibility last August when it became clear that the new Minnesota Licensing and Registration System (MNLARS) for motor vehicles was performing poorly.But Dayton changed his tune a few months later. He apologized and vowed to correct the flawed new system. Since then, his administration has moved aggressively, installing new leadership, hiring outside help and issuing a total of 101 amendments to MNLARS software. As a result, a backlog of 380,000 vehicle registrations in November has been cut nearly in half. More improvements are needed and more are planned, with 32 priorities identified for action in the next six to eight months.”Massachusetts has its issues as my state does.

It’s not just title processing that’s slow. My wife is waiting for her renewed drivers license that she applied for 2 months ago.

That happens in every state. Connecticut put in a whole new motor vehicle department computer system, and it took years to straighten things out. It would be too easy to just use the same system that neighboring states use, that has had all the bugs worked out. Every time, it is a custom system that has never been used before. This all will happen again when they need to "update" the system....

Isn't it great how computers have made all of our lives easier and faster ! ;)Of course as I say this I am typing it on a computer. (Oops, sorry, I should have said that I am Keyboarding it onto a computer. ) Oh,, And don't forget,,much more secure. That is another thing that computers have done for us. Sigh, Every time they roll out some new program there is glitches and it all gets bugger up for awhile. They know you have a valid title....because THEY have it.
I have never been in a state where they do NOT issue permanent plates once you give them the title for processing.

I think you misunderstand something here.
Now selling it again would be a problem.

Still waiting on my MN tag renewal tabs. Sent in my renewal in January, they deposited the check and that's as far as it went. Called the tag dept after 1 hour hold time they sent me a email with a pdf for a sixty day permit until they get the issue resolved.

Here in Montana, if you buy from a dealer, the dealer prints a 40 day permit, the paperwork is delivered to the DMV Office (I think the dealer makes that trip once a week) in the County Courthouse, and the Office sends you a postcard saying they are ready to transfer the title and register your new vehicle. You go in, pay the fees, get (or transfer) the plates, and they tell you you will get the title in 4 to 6 weeks. Lately, I have found it takes about 2 to 3 weeks.
If it is a private party sale, YOU take the signed title to the DMV office, pay the fees, and transfer or get new plates. The Bill Of Sale and/or signed title is your 40 day temporary permit.
Just do not use a credit card to pay the fees. There is a surcharge for that!
