We lived South of Oakland for many years. Stay out of the surface streets of Oakland period. We would take Bart into the stadium, but you get off Bart and are in an enclosed tunnel to get to the stadium. If I had had to drive, I would not have gone. In areas that are known to be high crime, we stay way outside the city in a park somewhere we feel very comfortable and then drive in. If we ever feel uncomfortable, and there have been times we have, we leave the area. If you feel uncomfortable leaving your car parked somewhere, you probably shouldn't be there. If you don't feel comfortable walking around, then you probably shouldn't be there. I had business over 25 years ago in downtown Oakland. After I parked and went into the store, the owner told me to go straight to my car and leave and that was 25 years ago.
