BIG Waste Water Tote Wanted

It all boils down to what kind of camping works for you... If you need all the comforts of home and need to burn thru 60 gallons of water every other day, have at it!

When I'm at a FHU site, I use the water as I feel I need to. When I don't have a sewer hookup, I adjust the water usage so I don't have to dump until I leave.. I'm only a long weekend camper (Fri-Mon), so it's pretty easy to do..

But, I remember back in my teens and we didn't have FHU sites most of time and the rule was, you could use as much water as you wanted... YOU just have to haul it in and haul it out.. In other words, if you used 5 gallons of water to bathe, you hauled that 5 gallons in and hauled that 5 gallons out.. Then, it didn't really matter that you just took a shower when you sweated to haul it back out! :)

I made a 55 gal. waste tank out of a plastic soap drum. I modified to lay in back of truck sideways. I made a cradle to hold in place and fill and dump without removing from back of truck. On the lower hole installed same valve as on the camper and run sewer hose long enough to reach sewer at dump station and fill it at rv with macerator pump and long hse going to top bung with a valve . What would you do if you went camping in one of the Forest Service campgrounds or state parks that has no water hookups and no dump station, and the nearest dump station is anywhere from 10 to 40 miles away?

Bwaha! Easy to say if you're not camping with six teens & tweens. If we didn't run the kids thru the shower daily the trailer would smell worse than a pig barn!
We like our comforts and at minimum insist on at-site electricity and running water. The trailer's fully capable of dry camping but that's not something we care to do.

You gotta remember...many people bring everything including the kitchen sink...it will take them a lot of time to remove the homemade outdoor kitchen from underneath the awning, plus take down the lights, remove the coolers from underneath the trailer, etc...lol

All due respect, there's no way I'm breaking camp and stowing all that stuff just to go dump the trailer when I can simply roll the tote out and fill it up. X2, you can do the tote dump routine very quickly if you're set up properly. We dump the grey tank into the tote, place the tote handle on the ball/hitch and take it to the dump station. 15-20 minutes tops. Would not consider breaking down and towing the trailer to the dump station which is much more work and time consuming.

I got better pneumatic wheels for my Thetford at Tractor Supply Company - but Harbor Freight or Northern Tool & Equipment also have some.

Where do you get the pneumatic wheels for the Barker tote and is there a better handle out there?

We tend to prefer COE / USFS/ other federal campsites with electricity and water - but without sewer. Because usually the water front sites don't have sewer - and they are cheaper. We're about conserving cash as much as water.

It takes about 30-45 minutes most of the time to dump my tanks - black and grey using the SewerTote - while it takes the DW over 45 minutes to prepare the inside of the trailer to bring in the slides before I can move it. And another 45 minutes to reset up after.

It could be faster, but I don't want to go to the expense of getting another DW.
