Blue Ox

I ordered 2 Blue Ox Patriots but never got them. One for me and one for my Brother. After waiting 9 days I still hadn't gotten an order confirmation so I emailed them and was told that my order was back ordered. I told them it would have been nice to let the customer, me, know that little detail. Even though they back ordered they still charged my credit card. I told them to cancel the order and they did. So far it has been 3 weeks since my order was canceled but after 3 email and 6 telephone calls to a very rude person at Blue Ox I have still not received a refund. So far all I have gotten from Blue Ox is BS and outright lies. They even sent me an email saying that they refunded my money but that was a week ago and it is still not in my account. I would never deal with Blue Ox again their business practices leave a lot to be desired. I guess that the only way I am going to get my money back from them is to take them to court. I would steer clear of this company.
  • ..You ordered this with a credit card, so there should be an easy solution here, without taking anybody to court: Call your credit card company, and protest the charges. There is no way they (blue ox distributor you're working with) will win that dispute, when they have not even shipped anything to you and the order is cancelled. Problem solved.

Hate to hear that you're having this problem. There are several other places you can order blue ox products from, I'd just go through one of them. PPL is one of them that was just mentioned that has a pretty good reputation. I ordered from hitchsource.com when getting Blue Ox baseplates, and they've always been great.

On another note: Since you're talking about ordering a braking system, have you considered ReadyBrake? I like this system MUCH better than any of the 'electronic box' type systems. Very simple cable operated system, no electronics to foul up, and costs a fraction of what you're about to spend for that Patriot system. I highly, highly recommend Readybrake.

I ordered a Blue Ox Alladin tow bar from them on 7/24. Hammered card immediately. No communication from them, so called and found out it was backordered. Would ship the next week, didn't. I got a tracking # from Fedex yesterday 8/23 and call from Blue Ox dealer indicating it was shipped.

I had contacted another dealer and asked about availability. He said he had 100''s on backorder. So I guess itss a faactory probem, but some communication wooulld have beeen nice.

Next time try PPL in Houston. I have always had good service and prices from them.

I also had a problem with a baseplate that I ordered from blueox.com. If thats the same web site you ordered from or by phone, be aware that is not the Blue Ox manufacturing web site. It's an online distributor/vendor. The Blue Ox site does not sell, only lists products and directs you to an onlind distributor.
If you call Dillon Freeese at 1-800-228-9289 I believe he will take care of it. Thats the original Blue Ox site. He told me that they have had several problems with the online vendor, and are trying to get them in line. I did, and got a call in a few hours from the online vendor stating my baseplate would be shipped out Monday.

Hmm, you'd think that if customers are having problems with that vendor that they route you to from their web site, Blue Ox would start routing people to a more reliable vendor.
