I appreciate all the opinions and I'm leaning towards braking even if I get the Fit. But I would still contend that it's not black and white. Just as a MH/toad will stop quicker with brakes, there are fairly wide differences in stopping distances among all kinds of vehicles. So if you follow the argument to always have brakes, then why not only buy the fastest stopping car.
By the way what will brakes for a toad cost me. I already have the blue ox tow bar and the electrical connection for tail lights, etc. just not supplemental braking.
