But in the 50s, it's some of the first big precast concrete in this application.

Could have been hit, doesn't look low clearance though and the news would home in on it if it was struck. Previously.
Concrete barrier does not lol to be original, and deck has a healthy (a lot, too much?) asphalt overlay. Looks like it's been overplayed with asphalt at least 3 times. 6" + thick. Must believe in milling machines in TN.
Can also see where the gut rods (transverse tie rods or post tension rods snapped. But looks like they snapped after the beam failed. Or the beam would have rolled. This fell straight down.
Either severe degradation and corrosion in the bottom flange of the box beam or possibly struck by.
Most likely failed deck and more importantly bottom slab/flange.
