THey expect to reopen Monday (Today) I gather from teh article though full repairs may take a while.

From observation.. Due to the somewhat modular construction of the road.. The road may still be safe.. Provided you drive safely

I suspect that TDOT will be along shortly to get the RVnet determination of why the bridge failed LOL.

^^^^ My thoughts exactly ! I would expect a rather long shutdown of those lanes until they thoroughly inspect that bridge..

Well the Civil Engineer In me says this not a good thing! That is more than just a railing that also includes a structural beam! Lack of construction equipment tells me that this wasn’t a planed event, very lucky no one was killed!
Either that bridge was not correctly inspected within the last two years, as required or something very heavy compromised that beam!

Looks to me like one of the main beams broke and fell. This beam just happens to hold the wall and first part of the roadway.

So it was a support wall, not the bridge itself?
