Burr Handy Lift

Would like to see if anyone has installed this lift on their trailer.
My wife has a bad problem of climbing stairs.

  • I have had one installed on our class a for three years and am satisfied with it
    Some comment below

The travel is limited to the distance between ground and the bottom of the door

You will need an additional isolation switch to shut the stairs in the retract position

I had a RV dealer install the unit to attach to the integral frame. Burr will tell you how many man hours should be charged.

The motor got wet once in a south Louisiana downpour and had to be rewound. Several weeks ago the switches in the top head got wet in another rain storm and took three days of west Texas dry to operate again.....keep it dry

Lastly, if the motor does poop out, it has an easy access port to operate with a portable drill and socket

We could not do with out it

  • Arizal, thank you for your reply. A couple of questions if you do not mind: How does your wife keep herself stable while the lift is moving up or down? Did you use anything but the plates that came with it to mount it to the trailer firmly?
    Thanks you for the information.

  • We have one on our trailer and it helps my wife as she to has a big problem with stairs. The only problem we have had with it is it is kind of slow as it uses the same principal as an electric hitch jack with a longer stroke. We also have a power lift running board on our truck to help her.
