Responsible? I would say if the Dealer placed the spacers in upside down they would be. If that actually caused the damage.
People keep saying "level" the correct word here would be "flat" so by laying a long strait edge from front to back in the bed the bed it would be parallel to the straight edge.
Sounds like the bed has a crown or dip in it? Witch one?
