At the point you asked about the install before you towed with it and you were told it would be fine IMHO it's the installers problem and should have looked into why the hitch did not sit flat. It does not surprise me that B&W said they would pay for part of the damages as they are a stand up company. But to publicly say "We'll see if B&W will step up. But I'm not counting on it." will not get you as far as keeping quiet about it until the dust has settled.
