Our local gas taxes total approx. $1.22 USD per gallon ($0.42 Can per liter). Since we are in a rural area, we don't even get the benefits of what the taxes go towards. Our local tax breakdown:

Yeah, EVERYTHING IS MORE EXPENSIVE IN CANADA, we get that, that is what you get when everything is taxed to pay for all of the "free" stuff handed out like candy to all the non working along with those who do work.
There is no such thing as a "FREE" meal, someone must carry the burden (IE TAXES) to pay for those who don't work or don't want to be burdened to work.
