Hey Reno, there's a GREAT chance you are going to see a Retrograde Low next week. They also call them a Tonopah Low. Beautiful match with an 80 mph Washoe Zephyr.
The rest of you are going to get your shot of paradise. The storm is headed East and it'll be still angry when it gives you an "Awshucks, ain't nothin' to it" smack on the ass..
So far only wind. Up to 140 mph on the crest of the Sierras, less in the Reno area. And so far no rain. That might come tonight. The wind blows all the time so more wind is not necessarily that big a deal. The great American author Mark Twain in his book Roughing It talks about the strong wind called Washoe Zephyrs. That is about five miles from us in Washoe valley. At our house we received more rain in twenty minutes last summer as part of a thunderstorm than this storm so far.
