When we moved into our home here in the mountains, the average annual rainfall was 38 inches per year - so I installed plenty of culverts in our long driveway. I've had to clean them out again during the last couple of days! (We're also keeping our home's auxiliary generator tank full.)
The worst rain we've received here was 12 inches in 20 hours back in the 80's. When we woke up the next morning, some folks had died from mud slides demolishing their homes. This current storm is a strong one, but not yet approaching that terrible blockbuster back then.
We've been sleeping in our RV out in the back yard for almost 5 months while the stick house was being remodeled. So far, I don't think it has developed any leaks from this fall's rainy weather ( .... knock on wood/fiberglass).
