That wouldn't help if I was hiring. I research all the reference locations. If I found a negative review about the employment situation at the park where an applicant worked during that same timeframe, I would just assume it was the applicant who posted it. It isn't like most parks have large numbers of employees at any given time. Plus, I call references and I am pretty sure the park management would confirm my suspicion that the reviewer used a fake name.

Many people say avoid CA park host jobs. Rude, arrogant, forced to work long hours is what I have read. If you want a great experience, come to Oregon. Our park system is world class, and most of the rangers are really great to work with. Dont get me wrong, there are bad rangers, and horrible parks. But by and large oir park system and the rangers who run them are the best.
I wonder about three things, where did you read that, who is rude and arrogant and where can I read that? IMHO on the OR coast you seldom see a ranger in a park, maybe that is why in your opinion the rangers are great?
We're fairly new at camping in OR, we have only been doing it since 1967 and things are not as good as they were then. Back then there was free firewood and no HOSTS! just park service attendants who were full time state employees.
I'm not bashing OR parks, I'm just tired of others bashing CA period.
By the way where are these reviews, the OP asked about reviews.
Well not sure about California SP Rangers and Host, but you will always get a mixed bag, just like any other group. There will be those that work hard and are very friendly, and those that are just getting by.
That said have Hosted with both, we like doing the job and building relations with the park guest.
Just as with any "job" you will have the Great, Good, and Bad boss/Manager! So far our experiences have been great and good, and I do believe about 99% of park managers fall into that category. - ScottGNomadUse a pseudonym when posting your review but please do post them. - westernrvparkowExplorerJust be aware, if you are posting a negative review and you are going to list that experience in any future application or interview a diligent employer is going to ferret out that review. If I was the potential employer, that negative review will disqualify the applicant. While it may be 100 percent accurate, it could also be a complete fabrication posted to extend some kind of personal feud. As an employer, I don't take unnecessary chances on hires.
