I had that problem in college. I lived on a rather busy street, and someone had parked in my off-street parking space behind the house I rented.
So, I went around front and the only spot left was a spot right in front of my neighbor's house. He came flying out the front door screeching like a banshee about how that's his spot and no one was allowed to park there.
I was so flabbergasted I couldn't even think of anything to say for a moment, then I said "public street, I'll park where I want" and went in to my house.
Crazy how nuts some people get over things.
