We set up camp in a national forest south of Flagstaff AZ one afternoon. My DW's mom and I were sitting in the shade and just enjoying the peace and quiet. A bullet hit between my legs as a shot rang out from the next camp over. Within seconds, an second bullet/shot! I yelled at the top of my lungs to "CEASE FIRE"! I sprinted the 100 yards into the next camp ready to take them on. (I was well armed myself in case it turned ugly). When I got there, there were two young boys with .22 rifles target practicing. I asked their mom and dad what in the hell were they thinking? No backstop and shooting into our camp.
Their response was.. "Sorry, we checked earlier and there was nobody there". I mentioned to them that they may have had a clue when I pulled my TV and 30 FW right by them on the road. Their next response floored me. They said, "we just had a gun safety class, so we know what we're doing". I explained to them very calmly that "if one more bullet comes through our camp, I will take it as an act of aggression, and I will respond to it with deadly force. The parent's finally told the boys to put the rifles away. They packed up camp and left.
