Camping near Nashville

Yes, I will use all the great Internet resources (including the search feature right here).

But, what that lacks is often addressed beautifully by responses in discussion forums by people who actually did it before and found some things they did like and didn't like.

I'll be at business meetings downtown, the DW will be hanging out doing crafty things. Not necessarily interested in being near Opryland, don't want to be way out in the boonies where it's housing for construction folks.

Curious to any comments of places being nice, reasonable (or not), convenient. Conversations among friends...

Thanks in advance.

  • We camped at Seven Points Campground on Percy Priest Lake back in 2013. I really tend to like the Corps of Engineers campgrounds. IIRC, it's about 15 minutes or so from Nashville, depending, of course, on traffic.

  • I have to give thumbs-up for KOA Nashville. Best KOA we've ever stayed at.
  • While visiting Nashville a few months ago we stayed at Montgomery Bell SP. It's west of town, a little ways out, but nice. Not sure how it would work out if you have to go back and forth into town, but it wasn't a bad drive for our couple of trips.

I ALWAYS stay at the KOA in Nashville.

Yes it is pricey for the site 'I' pick, but IMHO worth every single penny. I always ask for the pull thru site with the concrete patio.

It comes complete with a really nice wrought iron table and chairs. Ahhh. It's always been one of my favorite CG's I look forward to staying at on all my trips south AND back.

There are also less expensive sites at this CG too. Along with fully furnished rental cabins and primitive cabins. The staff there are a 10 in my book which just adds to how nice this CG is.

Of course I am biased because I like it so much but it is near downtown so it is very convenient for your business trip. Yet it is nicely wooded so you get the feel of being out in the country. And the deluxe patio sites also have a huge pull thru.

And for the DW: "the concierge representative can arrange sightseeing and historical tours, tickets, and transportation for you also; and they will pick you up and drop you off right here at the resort."
