I worked at a GMC dealership in the service dept as a Service writer . So I had to do what the service manager (owner's son)and owner said or I would be looking for another job.
So since there were four GMC dealers within a 75 mile radius. This certain GMC dealership was/is well known and more than a few times people came to shop for a truck then go to one of the other dealers and buy from them.
When one of them came in I had strict orders to tell them we were booked out and soonest we could get them in was 3-4 weeks.
Had one local guy buy 4 vehicles from the place through about a 12 year period , came in got his price on a new one , drove the 30 miles to the next dealer and bought from them for $200 less than what he thought he could have bought it from us.Coarse it didn't have all the options as the one he was trying to deal on so in reality he paid more.
He drove in the new truck and went up front to tell/ rub it in the sales manager what a deal he lost.
I had dealings with him in the past with his other vehicles.
You know the type drop everything and fix my vehicle now I know the owner blah blah blah.
About a month later he comes into to service dept with a laundry list of nick pick and some well deserved needed warranty problems.
I said we were full for 3-4 weeks out like I was instructed to say for any warranty work.
The guy storms off and called the 800# and complained to them about us. Our district rep called and asked me about it and I told him about past dealings with him in the Service Dept and what I was instructed to do when someone came in with a local (not ours) dealer frame or dealer license advertisement Not yet received state license plate.
So the dist rep talked with the owner of the dealership and well from then on nothing changed we still turned away when bought elsewhere within our area.
Yeah I thought it was chicken poop (being PC) cause it was work for the service dept.
So yeah I've been on both sides and it sucks to be on either side...
This happened 26 years ago , and I haven't been back there in about 8 years, big turn over of salseman service dept and owner past away and now owner's son is running the place...
As for CW Service Dept dealings well both my posts got closed,, I was spanked by the moderators ;)
