Can you critique my weights?

Weight myself.
4900 front
6900 rear.
Trailer was 12600. Put us at 24k. We are registered at 26k.
That is over. But I have 5000 lb tires.
Talked to the state patrol guy that was doing the weighting and once I told him what tires I had he said " your good, have a nice nice day"




towed great. Zero issues.
better then mY 24 foot bumper pull.

2nd point is your 3500 SRW braking performance is the sum of the axle ratings. The SRW does not have the same braking performance as a DRW;

..a 3500 DRW may have a 5500 FAWR and a 9350 RAWR = 14850 lb of braking performance.


NHTSA says this about components of the GAWR:
"Gross Axle Weight Rating is the rated load-carrying capacity of an individual axle and wheel assembly. (It represents the load that may be steadily sustained by the components in the system; i.e., tires, rims, hubs, bearing, axles, brakes, suspension, sub frame, etc. with the GAWR limited by the components with the lowest working rating".

You've added higher rated tires/wheels and suspension help which I have no problem with doing so to carry a bit more more weight.
Having pulled 20k+ GN trailers for a living with one ton DRW trucks IMO you still have a SRW truck which will not have the same stability especially on wet down hill twisty winding roads and a heavy trailer pushing in the curves or high side wind areas.

Well, maybe i should of went with the DRW setup instead of the beefier 19.5 srw setup.
Worse case scenario is i have to sell my freshly purchased rims/tires and move to the DRW setup.

I like that last line where the GAWR is basically whatever is the weakest link. In my SRW, the weakest link was the tires... But that stability issue you mentioned really concerns me to.
We will find out this saturday.. Beyond excited.

Nope, i just wanted some info on what people would think the weak point of the setup would be. I know enough to know where those weak links are. Those are addressed.

My only real concern were the bearings in the rear axle. They are the same as the DRW so im not concerned as much now.

I know its 6500 in the rear... I will be weighting the vehicle and the trailer, just to see how far away i am.... Thanks for the advice.

I know stability would be helped with that additional tire.

We will see. Be a bummer if it exceeds the numbers.

That makes sense then.

Im just trying to get a precise answer as to why the DRW version can do more then my SRW. My SRW has the same rear bearings, better tires, and essentially the same
brake setup...

I'm not sure about other states, but in Washington you can buy additional vehicle tonnage license to carry. That does not change any of the manufacturer's rear axle rating. The state does not imply any warranty nor recommended rating. They leave that up to the owner to decide what is safe.
