Can You Name This Device?

This is a device that is used to assist in walking. It's meant for a person who experiences foot drop. What it does is lift up the toes sufficiently with each step. I used to know the name, but have since forgotten it. To see picture, click on link below. Thank you.

  • Ah, yes you folks hit on it. "ankle-foot orthosis"", or AFO for short. I remember now there's also a KAFO (knee-ankle-foot orthosis). I never knew you could use a photo to initiate a Google search. Very interesting. Thanks for the replies! :)
  • This is a brace that is made for each person in need of it and adjusted for that person.
  • You can google Drop Foot Leg Brace and see many different types.
  • I copied the URL address for the image, pasted it in Google Image Search. For those not familiar, this will search the web for images that resemble the image you provide it. It guessed "material" for a search term, maybe because of the background. I changed the search term to "leg brace" and it came up with several photos that look similar. I clicked on one and got to the page below.

From what I see, I suspect it is an ANKLE FOOT ORTHOSIS.
