Cape Cod

I posted this here because it doesn't actually fit in the Camp Cooking section, what's it have to do with RV'ing, we will be RV'ing when we go there.
Now on to my question, looking for the best Seafood in Cape Cod, not looking for Yelp, Travel Advisor or other web sites, looking for opinions of folks who have actually been there. Thanks

Maybe it was just bad luck but one of our worst meals we ever had was at Provincetown. Went with brother and sister in law and all four of our meals were just awful. Remember looking at the other meals served and they didn't look much better. Was at the dock area, In retrospect I'm guessing it was a tourist trap type place. Regardless we will never eat up there again.

Yeah, it's possible if you were there in season. We always go in October just before everything shuts down. I can't remember the name of the place, but it's lost likely changed hands anyway. P'town is an acquired taste in many ways ;)

  • Seafood Sam's is overrated.

Disagree. It depends on what you get.

If you are referring to Fisherman's View on the canal we haven't been there but friends have and they weren't impressed at all. If you are referring to the Pilot House we have been there it was just awful. Captain Scotts (also in Sandwich) is good but has gotten kind of fru fru and very expensive. I don't eat it but multiple family members say their clam chowder is the best.
  • Here's my list mostly from the area around the canal

The Seafood Shanty on the Scenic Hwy (Rt 6 between the bridges)
East Wind Lobster in Buzzards Bay (just off the old Bourne Bridge Rotary)
The Lobster Trap Shore Road Bourne. Unfortunately, this place has been "discovered" and is expensive and hard to get into. They went from a porch next to a kitchen to valet parking and police directing traffic.

Right on the Bourne cape side rotary is the lighthouse where you can get a lobster roll for lunch. This is where we get out lobsters and steamers.

There's a new place (haven't been yet) on Sandwich Harbor on the canal that's reported to be good food, but difficult to get into.

Other places on the Cape I've been to Baxter's in Hyannis, Kreme 'n Kone in Chatham and Dennis. Ok but ridiculously expensive.

    Seafood Sam's is overrated.

If you make it out as far as P'town, just about anywhere there is great.
  • Next to Atlantic Oaks Campground in Eastham is Arnold's Stay at the campground and you can walk from your campsite right to the family style restuarant. Stayed at Atlantic Oaks many times, would recommend them both. Eastham is about the half way point up the cape.

    Can't beat their Lobster rolls!

I would like to think that any Seafood place on "The Cape" would be good. Howeer Iv'e only eaten at one "Sit down and get served" place and that was out at the tip of the cape... Past Marconi's historic site.

You an google McCormick and Mcormick Attornies in South Orleans (middle of the cape) and ask them for their recommendations.. Sister nad BIL.
  • We are only "Cape Commuters" as we head to/from the ferry to Nantucket, but from April to October we always hit the Seafood Shanty on route 6 right on the canal just off the Cape. Best deep fried whole belly clams, lobster roll and fries.

  • You need to describe what "best" is to you-fried, boiled lobster, steamed lobster-etc. For fried we like Seafood Sams on the canal in Sandwich.
  • I want to know too. We are thinking of going out East this summer.
