What is the best way to secure steering wheel when locking column is not avaible on car

Have you ever had this happen ? I have never even heard of such a thing. I know the turntable dollys can have fender contact if turning too short, or car is too wide. But I still would not lock the steering, unless what you stated below proved to be true.
