Carlisle Sport Trail LH Bias Trailer Tire

The Marathon tires on my new to me trailer look brand new but are 4 years old. My last couple of trailers,I installed LT tires but the size seems limited these days. Is anyone running Carlisle Sport Trail LH Bias Trailer Tire - ST205/75D14 LRC/6ply tires? I reallydon't trust trailer tires but these being a sort of old school Bias ply and pretty cheap may be worth a try. Good weight and speed rating. May be worth a try.

Double ditto, nor bias ply. Add those 2 together and have your roadside assistance paid up.

I told myself years ago that I would never buy trailer tires since they all seem like junk. But here I am probably buying trailer tires again. I've seen more problems with the Marathons than any others but then again, I wonder how old they were.
Thank you all for the input here
  • My last 2 trailers, and one was brand new,I replaced all the trailer tires with LTs and never had a problem. I would like to find a 215 75 15 LT with a highway tread but they just aren't available, that I can find. Is there really a problem with bias ply tires? I would rather have a little truck tire than a trailer tire if possible.

  • Maxii 8008 has been very good last few years, suffered several blowouts with Carlile.
  • Move up to Carlisle new HD radial tires. Hell they even look like a automotive tire instead of a wheel barrow tire.
Having made a living years back with bias ply tires on my commercial trailers I will not and do not mess with any bias ply tires.....on my road trailers or cars and trucks.
Now if I had a lawn service business or a utility trailer that makes short trips to Lowes or the dump then a cheap bias ply can make cents/sense.
  • One blowout and you will forget anything "cheap". It will cost a lot more in damage repair than the difference in tire costs. After years of RV'ing and a few tire problems I found that if you get quality tires AND upgrade the load level (I currently run G rated tires for my 5th wheel) you shouldn't have any tire problems. Better to put your money into quality tires than a sidewall repair and towing.
  • 4yrs they should have a few years left. I buy nothing with the name carlisle on it. just for my lawn mower.
  • The manager at Discount tire here in Az said the Marathons should be replaced every 2 years. Crazy!
