CG hit by storm in Va.

It is not their policy to offer no refund at all, but there are charges associated with a cancellation. A girl called me from their office this morning just to notify me that they are closed next week. She wasn't 100% sure how they were handling things but sounded like they are pushing people to reschedule. That ship has sailed for me as I won't be able to schedule time off for both me and my wife anymore this year. I only had a deposit with them and it sounded favorable that it will be refunded.

If they are open for business and the storm damage is cleaned up, they will be ready to fulfill their end of the bargain. Deciding not to go there is up to you. But if their policy is 'no refunds', they will have a right to keep your money.

1,300 campers and 40 staff at CG when storm hit. I guess the recommendation to "go inside a secure building, like a bathhouse" would be difficult/impossible at a CG that size. I can't see the bathhouses holding everyone....

I often think about things like this when I stay in a HUGE resort like that, but that's rare b/c we use smaller Mom&Pop CG's. I know in most places I stay we could all squeeze inside in am emergency.

And I am always aware of the TREES around me when I stay someplace and follow the weather reports - especially during the summer. Those were some honking big trees at that CG.

720Deere. If they don't give me my deposit back I will put a stop payment through my credit card. I can't see them not giving a refund seeing the circumstances of what happened. We are in Tennessee next week at Anchor Down RV resort(amazing RV park) and then we were going to Cherrystone for a week on the way home. I couldn't wait to see if Cherrystone would possibly be reopened after the tornado before I made other plans. Decided to stay at Anchor Down for 2 weeks and will cancel Cherrystone when the office is back open.

Good luck getting your money back. They intend to open up again next weekend and if you cancel it will be your own doing so they will refuse a full refund. We have reservations starting tomorrow and as of now they have no intention to even start answering the phones until sometime tomorrow. They posted on the website last night stating that they are closed at least until next Friday at which time they will make a decision on the following week.

Thoughts and prayers are with all the families. I have reservations for check in next sunday. Feel bad calling to cancel with all the devastation. Going to need to find another campground with availability on short notice. Was coming to Cherrystone after a stop in Pigeon Forge TN

Saw this on the news this evening. Terrible... We all fear something like this happening. I have seen trees fall on trailers 3 times but no injuries in any of them. Just terrible. Be safe everyone.

Yes, it was Cherrystone. I have reservations for there in 2 weeks, but I'll be looking to go somewhere else. Here is a link to a local news report: NBC 12 - NJ couple identified as victims.
