CG Rules - New Trends?

Very common way to fall is to lose control of the bike. Jack knife the forks and go down. Younger the rider (pre teen) or inexperienced the more likely that is to happen.
In a CG or elsewhere could be caused by any sort of distraction, dog, car, pot hole etc.

You or the kid fall, 999 times out of a 1000, no big deal, you get a little road rash, or maybe sprain something. But that one time, there is a big rock on the side of the road and you or the kid wack their head on it, now you have a life changing injury

Then all this talk, about lawyers and rules is going to seem pretty meaningless.

I respect any one's right not to wear a helmet. But to me it just seems to be a poor choice. But that is just me.

And I do understand it is all about probabilities. But, could be the 999th time you or the kid fall, or the first time you or the kid fall.

Wearing a helmet, just seems to me at least such an easy cheap way to eliminate that risk, no matter how slight. But to each his own


Same could be said for seatbelt use, been driving 40 plus years, like many of you. Been in a few minor accidents. Where seat belt did not do much. But that one time, Drunk crosses the center line hits me head on. Me, just wrong place wrong time. Could never happen again or to anyone else But I was sure glad to have seat belts and airbags. Same Idea I think with bike helmets.

I'm sure that insurance is a very significant portion of the costs to operate a CG. Anything the owners can do to reduce cost, within reason, cannot be overlooked. As long as our court system refuses to hold people responsible for their own stupidity, lawyers will continue to rule the world!

Way too many people look to lawsuits as a way to avoid actually earning an honest living. Personal Injury Lawyers and their relentless TV ads do nothing more than promote that way of thinking. Get hurt (no matter who's at fault), sue, get rich and spend the rest of you life on the couch watching Jerry Springer. Oops! Did I say that out loud? :-/

BTW -- I don't even own a bike helmet.

no, what separates them is that laws in this country are proposed by and elected legislature and approved by the executive. democracy. a rule is imposed at will by a single person.

But the principle remains the same. It's a rule because they can't make it a law. This is such a stupid issue to be arguing over. Just go to a campground that has no rules or no rules you don't like and be done with it.

I assume you wear a seat belt when you drive. It's a rule. You follow that rule. Seat belts save lives. Bike helmets save lives. What's the difference?

Yup. And what we survived as kids is so not relevant. We were the lucky ones.

In MN you do not even have to wear a helmet when you ride a motorcycle.

If I don't like the CG rules that pertain to 'my' particular situation I just plum don't stay there. There is always another CG just down the road a piece that fit my needs. :C

That is about the size of it. I learned to drive around the property in a 1946 Willys Jeep. The gas tank is UNDER the drivers seat.

What were they thinking for a vehicle that was going to get shot at?

We scan the CG rules. Most are about the same. Every so often you come across one that is a head scratcher.
