Check the numbers for me on towing...

Okay, considering a 2015 Forest River Salem 262BHXL at 5,801 lbs / 650 lbs tongue weight.

Want to tow with a 2006 F-150 5.4l, 3.55 rear, 4x4, extended cab, 2 adults and 2 kids under 10.

Am I in the weight ballpark or is this a recipe for bad news?
  • Your truck is fine for those weights. Hook it up and enjoy.
  • Even though you are probably posting the "dry" weights...as posted by APT above, you are in the ball park..

Your 3.55 rear end is not optimal for towing however.

Pack light and tow as dry as possible. Also consider swapping your truck tires for LT's if you are running P rated tires now.
  • Looks like a decent combo. Use Tow/Haul mode, lock out overdrive. You may not like performance of 3 usable towing gears, but you should near your trucks' ratings for that weight TT. Happy Camping!
