After traveling from my summer host position to my home base two days ago, 250 miles, the squirrel was still there running around after I was set up. Obviously, even at my advanced age, the squirrel didn't ride 250 miles on the roof. So I started to suspect a mouse in the a/c ducts. Then I finally hit me. The sound was the pull chain hitting one of the light bulbs in my new ceiling fan that I installed just before the squirrel started bugging me. After balancing the fan which was new the squirrel went away.
Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees!
