I guess it's time to go to the local scales and find out for sure. Is there a special method of weighing? Should the truck and trailer be normally loaded before weighing? Should truck and trailer be weighed separately? How is pin weight determined? Do I weigh the whole rig without the rear trailer axles on the scale for this?
So I grabbed Barney's link for you.
Here it is.
Now for some numbers.
My guess is that you 5er is this, 2018 Jayco Eagle HT 30.5MBOK, I could be wrong on the year, but I am sure the numbers will be close.
2018 Jayco Eagle HT 30.5MBOK Specifications
Length 36' 8"
Dry Weight 9,670#
Payload Capacity 2'280#
GVWR 11,950#
Hitch Weight (Dry) 1,860# (19%)
Well no one tows a 5er empty, and you only have a 2,280# Payload. Most 5er's tow best with a pin weight of 20% to 25%. Personally our 32' 5er tow very well at 22%.
So some numbers;
If at 19% and full GVWR of 11,950# = 2,270#
if at 22% and full GVWR of 11,950# = 2,629#
if at 25% and full GVWR of 11,950# = 2,970#
Now if you pack light;
If at 19% and partial GVWR of 10,670# = 2,027#
if at 22% and partial GVWR of 10,670# = 2,347#
if at 25% and partial GVWR of 10,670# = 2,667#
I had some chucking issues when pulling our 32' 12,500# 5er with our old 2001 Ram 2500, our FW tank was just forward of the axles and I found if I traveled with it full it towed much smoother.
So once you follow the scaling instructions, and come up with your pin weight you can work from there.
Understand I had strong springs on the Ram and Bil's, I continued by putting shocks on the 5er, leveling it, and wet bolts.
Unlike many on this forum, I don't recommend towing over the TV's GVWR, that is your decision. I will saw don't exceed the tire rating on your TV.
